Frequently Asked Questions: Podcasts
Can I pitch you on my client as a guest for your podcast?
Cheryl is extremely intentional about the guests on Enduring Play, as she does not receive compensation for the hundreds of hours she’s spent personally writing, editing, recording, and publishing the show. It is not a promotional vehicle for software, services, or people. While you are welcome to attempt a pitch using the contact information above, please know that only pitches that meet the following bar will be considered, AND the pitches will have to align with whatever Cheryl’s needs are for the specific season theme she’s researching at that time. Pitches that do not adhere to the below criteria may not receive a response, as Cheryl cannot scale to all inquiries.
| Enduring Play Podcast Pitch Requirements |
| – Pitches must be people and process focused – not product focused. – Pitches and case studies MUST be game industry specific. No external pitches. – Guests must be discussing their personal, direct, PAST LIVED experience; no speculative discussions unless the individual or studio is also sharing insights from past shipped games or projects. – Due to Cheryl’s current full-time employment, she must avoid conflicts of interest and is unable to accept any pitches that focus solely on her employer or the rights holders associated with her employer. Enduring Play is not endorsed by or sponsored by The Pokémon Company International or Nintendo, and discussion cannot exclusively cover those topics. |
Can Cheryl be a guest on my podcast?
Cheryl does accept guest inquiries, although due to her current full-time employment there is a PR check involved, and no podcasts can be marketed in association with that employment. She is able to participate in podcasts as Owner and Creative Director of Ideaplatz, LLC; author of Design Beyond Devices and The Game Development Strategy Guide; and adjunct faculty of video games for Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz College. Use the contact information above to inquire; bookings usually require 3-6 weeks advance notice.

Can Cheryl keynote my event?
That’s a real possibility, if you have the budget! As a globally renowned keynote speaker, author, and podcaster, Cheryl’s keynote rates are commensurate with other headline talent, including appearance fee and full travel coverage. As a disabled female senior leader in technology for whom travel will mean more disruption than most other speakers, she will expect full disclosure of any other keynote speaker rates to ensure you are treating all keynote speakers equitably. Availability each year is currently extremely limited due to Cheryl’s demanding workload, podcast recording schedule, and teaching schedule, so make sure to reach out well in advance to info@ideaplatz.com and clearly state your budget and terms to speed the discussion.
If you are a registered nonprofit or educational institution looking to collaborate on an event, reach out to inquire about nonprofit partnership budget options (documentation required.)
Can Cheryl speak to my students?
Cheryl partners with her publisher Rosenfeld Media to offer a free 30 minute Q&A to classes who order either of her books in bulk (15 or more copies at 20% off) – visit the Rosenfeld Academics site to learn more. Rosenfeld’s books are available via Ingram Academic.
If you’d like to speak about commencement talks, honorary degrees, or guest lectures, reach out at info@ideaplatz.com. As an academic Cheryl does several guest lectures a year – most recently for Stanford’s Human-Computer Interaction Group in April 2026.
I’d like to pick your brain about my startup. Can I get 30 minutes?
Sadly, Cheryl’s time is extremely in demand, and as a result we do not offer pro bono consulting services to startups. Cheryl has spent considerable time capturing her knowledge in well-regarded books, podcasts, and talks so that everyone can access her knowledge equitably; that’s the best way to “pick her brain” to start. If you have advanced questions after reviewing those materials, then you likely want to discuss consulting rates – reach out at info@ideaplatz.com to discuss particulars.

Frequently Asked Questions: Consulting
I work with [insert expert consulting firm here]. Are you available to speak to my client? It’s urgent!!!
No. Unfortunately, there have been too many bad experiences with these third party services in the past, and Cheryl has found it not worth her time to navigate the many different email chains, payment systems, and NDAs – often to have sessions cancelled or rescheduled at the last minute. Cheryl’s consulting services are only available directly. This also ensures that Cheryl is able to fully control and screen for potential conflicts of interest before accepting work. Cheryl’s books, talks, and podcasts are a readily available source of her knowledge that require no advance booking or NDAs – and in many cases, clients end up asking questions that could have been answered more efficiently with simple research of existing materials.
Can you consult with me on my project directly?
That depends. We can consult on apps and general user experience design in industries in which Cheryl is not actively employed (IE: healthcare, travel, banking, cloud tech, philanthropy, information technology), but Cheryl does not currently actively consult on video game topics to avoid conflicts of interest with her current full time work. Your best bet is to engage with her podcast, books, and any free community events, conference appearances, social media streams, or Twitch streams she offers if you would like to discuss anything with her.
Why don’t you just have an embedded contact form?
Quite frankly, they kept breaking and mostly generated spam. Please email info@ideaplatz.com or use the Google Form to reach out, and thanks for your flexibility.
